Strategic Plan

The CCIR will begin to work on updating its Strategic Plan.   The new plan is scheduled to be approved in Spring 2008.

The CCIR expects to canvass stakeholders for their input into the new plan.

Group Life and A&S Insurance

The CCIR has agreed to form a working group to gather information and make recommendations on issues around sales and claims processes related to creditor insurance and other group insurance products.  Work is expected to get underway this spring.
IVIC Point of Sale Sub-Committee CCIR and the Canadian Securities Administrators (CSA) had a joint meeting where the two organizations reviewed the progress of their joint initiative under the auspices of the Joint Forum of Financial Market Regulators to harmonize the point of sale disclosure for mutual funds and segregated funds.
Industry Practices Review Committee

As part of its current project to review the implementation of the three IPRC principles - priority of the client’s interest, disclosure of potential conflicts of interest, and product suitability – The IPRC has prepared a “Report on Action on the IPRC Principles by Industry Associations” which will be posted on the CCIR website.

The IPRC is conducting an implementation review of insurers and intermediaries to confirm the extent to which the principles have been embraced by industry and to assess whether further regulatory action is required.

Insurers Application Form The CCIR has updated the Insurers Application form on its website.  Among other housekeeping items are changes in addresses, contacts and fees.
Industry Presentations

The CCIR would like to express their thanks to the industry organizations - CAFII, CADRI, CLHIA, IBC, Assuris, PACICC, GIO and CLHIO - who gave presentations at this meeting.

The presentations were uniformly interesting and useful.  CCIR always looks forward to hearing from the industry at its Spring meetings.

Next Meeting The CCIR Fall 2007 Meeting will be held on Sept 27 - 28 in Regina, Saskatchewan
