Spring 2004 Meeting Highlights
April 1 and 2, 2004
Québec City (Québec)

Implementing the CCIR Strategic Plan 2004-6 The Strategic Plan lists a number of important initiatives.  Those initiatives selected for immediate development are well underway.  For instance, CCIR members heard from a number of national stakeholder groups about various risk-based regulation approaches.  In addition, there were discussions about the automobile insurance statistical plan and the type of governance structure required.  CCIR intends to include interested stakeholders in the development process on these and other initiatives.
Referral Arrangements The Licence Considerations Committee provided a high level summary of the responses received to the discussion paper on referral arrangements.  The Committee will discuss the responses in greater detail so that recommendations can be made to members of CCIR.  In the meantime, the responses received will be made available on the CCIR website (www.ccir-ccrra.org).
Reciprocal Licensing Standards Committee The Reciprocal Licensing Standards Committee (previously known as the Working Group on Agent and Broker Licensing Issues) made a number of recommendations to CCIR.  The Committee was approved to field-test the draft application forms for both life and general agents and brokers.  In addition, various alternatives were considered pertaining to continuing education requirements. Further work will be done to facilitate reciprocal licensing of insurance intermediaries in Canada.
LLQP

The CCIR-CISRO LLQP Integrity Committee is working with participating jurisdictions to develop a national report on the success rate of LLQP examinees as a function of the LLQP course provider.  The target date for publication of this information is June 2004.  General information pertaining to the LLQP is available on the CCIR website (www.ccir-ccrra.org).  Other questions pertaining to licensing requirements should continue to be addressed to the licensing authority in individual jurisdictions.
